NIAGARA · International Marriage Guide Match me with a lawyer

About the International Marriage Guide

We build this guide because we handle the real questions every week — couples flying into Niagara to elope, Canadians marrying abroad, families figuring out which country owns their assets. We have seen the same traps catch couples over and over. This site is our attempt to answer those questions once, correctly, with the law cited and the consequences named in dollars.

How we research

Every article on this site cites government sources — the Ontario Marriage Act, the federal Department of Justice, the relevant consular services. We re-verify those sources on each page's "Last verified" date. When something changes, we update the page and bump the date.

Who writes

Articles are written by TJ Jacques, cross-border marriage specialist at Niagara Stands Out, based in Port Colborne, Ontario. TJ has handled licence applications, consular paperwork, and prenup coordination for couples marrying in and out of the Niagara Region for several years.

We refer, we don't practice

Niagara Stands Out is not a law firm. For any situation that needs legal advice, we refer you to an independent licensed lawyer. Fixed-fee consultations start at $150 CAD.
